Search terms
When a visitor types a name, location, or other search detail into a search box powered by a third-party provider, that query is sent to the provider operating the tool. Kankakee County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those search terms on its own end. The provider's policy governs what it does after receiving the query.
Messages and submissions
An email or contact message can include the sender's name, address, contact details, and the facts needed to answer the request. Messages are kept so the service can reply and manage the conversation. They are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Technical Details Collected
Normal page delivery can create technical records about the request. Depending on the hosting, analytics, and advertising systems in use, those details may include:
- IP address or a related network identifier
- browser name and version
- device type and operating system
- pages viewed and time spent on each page
- the referring site, when a referral is supplied
- date and time stamps for requests
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies and related technologies may help measure how visitors use the service, remember a setting, or support an advertising or analytics function. Browser controls can block or remove cookies. Some parts of a page may work differently when those tools are disabled.
How Information Is Used
Collected information is used for ordinary service and administration needs, including:
- keeping the pages available and responsive
- sending a search request to the provider selected for that tool
- understanding which pages visitors find useful
- diagnosing errors, abuse, and technical faults
- showing advertising that may be relevant to visitor interests
Links Beyond This Service
The pages link to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Tyler roster, FOIA instructions, the Circuit Clerk's Odyssey portal, IDOC, federal locators, local news, and other search tools. Clicking one of those links moves the visitor to a different operator. The outside operator's privacy notice and terms apply there, not this policy.
Some advertising partners can use cookies or similar signals to recognize activity across separate websites. That tracking takes place on the partner's systems and is controlled by that partner's choices and disclosures.
Who May Receive Information
Personal information is not sold by this service. It may be received or processed by the following categories when needed to operate the pages or comply with law:
- search partners that handle submitted queries
- analytics providers that measure site use
- advertising networks and their service providers
- law-enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order
Security Is a Best Effort
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information handled by the service. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and no promise can be made that data will never be accessed, altered, lost, or exposed. Visitors should avoid putting unnecessary sensitive details in a message or search request.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted information, a parent or guardian may use the Contact route to ask that it be removed.
Choices About Personal Data
Subject to applicable limits and the records held by the service, a person may ask to:
- receive a copy of personal data held about that person
- correct information that is wrong
- request deletion of information that can lawfully be erased
- opt out of certain processing, such as some analytics or advertising uses
Send a clear request through Contact. The request may need enough detail to identify the message or data at issue. A request sent to a Kankakee County agency or outside search provider must be directed to that operator instead.
Policy Changes
This policy may be revised when the service, its tools, or its data practices change. The updated language will be posted here with a new effective date or other clear update notice. Continued use after posting means the revised policy applies going forward.
